What are Botox®, Jeuveau®, Xeomin® and Dysport®?

Botox®, Jeuveau®, Xeomin® and Dysport® are brand names for a type of neurotoxin, which is an injectable treatment made from a purified form of botulinum toxin type A. These treatments work by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines, giving the skin a smoother and more youthful appearance.

  • Frown Lines 20-30 Units

What to Expect During Treatment

During your Neurotoxin treatment at The Lounge, our licensed healthcare professionals will use a very fine needle to inject the solution into the targeted muscles. The entire procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes and does not require any anesthesia. Most clients report little to no pain during the injection process.

After your treatment, you may experience some temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site, but these side effects usually subside within a few days. The effects of your neurotoxin treatment typically start to become visible within a few days of the treatment and can last for several months, depending on the individual and the treatment area.

Common Questions About Botox and Dysport Treatments

Q: What is Botox, and how does it work?

A: Botox is a neurotoxin produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. When injected into muscles, it blocks the nerve signals that cause them to contract, resulting in a temporary relaxation of the muscles and a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles.

Q: What are the most common areas for Botox injections?

A: The most common areas for Botox injections are the forehead, between the eyebrows (known as glabellar lines), around the eyes (the oft-mentioned crow's feet), above the lips, chin and jawline. Other applications for injections exist, but these are the most frequently used.

Q: Is Botox safe?

A: Short answer - yes! Longerish answer - Botox is generally considered safe when administered by a qualified medical professional. However, like any medical treatment, it does carry some risks and potential side effects, including headache, temporary drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow, and flu-like symptoms.

Q: How long does Botox last?

A: The effects of Botox typically last 3-4 months. After this time, the muscles gradually regain their ability to contract, and the wrinkles may start to reappear.

Q: How long does it take to see results from Botox?

A: It usually takes 3-7 days to see the full effects of Botox.

Q: Does Botox hurt?

A: Botox injections are generally not very painful. Some people may experience mild discomfort or a stinging sensation at the injection site.

Q: Can anyone get Botox?

A: Botox is generally safe for most people, but it is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with certain medical conditions, and those who are allergic to any of the ingredients in Botox.

Q: Are there any alternatives to Botox?

A: Yes, there are several alternative treatments for reducing the appearance of wrinkles, including dermal fillers, chemical peels, and laser resurfacing. However, each of these treatments works differently and may be more appropriate for certain types of wrinkles or skin concerns. Please consult with our professionals to help guide you towards the most effective treatment.
